About the art
What is Pencak Silat?
Pencak Silat is the martial art of Indonesia and the wider Malay world, taught in hundreds of schools (perguruan). Pencak is the art of movement and form; silat is its fighting use. Training builds low, strong stances and flowing movement, with strikes, kicks such as the sickle kick, and the catches, sweeps and takedowns silat is known for.
It is practised as art, self-defence and sport. In competition, tanding is full fighting with body protectors, and the tunggal, ganda and regu categories judge solo, pair and team forms (jurus). The sport has been part of the Asian Games since 2018.

Pencak Silat clubs often ask
Our perguruan uses different names. Can we change them?
Yes. Add your own names as alternative names, and your own jurus and techniques as custom techniques.
Can we record tanding and form competitions?
Yes. Tanding and the form categories are in the library, so they can go into syllabuses, assessments and lesson plans.
Can we use our own syllabus and grades?
Yes. The starter ladder is only a starting point. Rename grades, change colours, add your own requirements and set the lessons and time each grade needs.
Can one club teach more than one martial art?
Yes. Choose a main martial art when you create your club and add others in the club settings. Each keeps its own technique library.
Can you move our students across from our current system?
Yes. Import students from a spreadsheet and check every row before it is saved, or send us your records and we will move them across for you free of charge.
How much does it cost?
Small clubs can use the Free plan with no card required. Paid plans add capacity and features as your club grows.
