About the art
What is American Kenpo?
American Kenpo was developed by Ed Parker in the United States from the 1950s onwards, building on the Kenpo he learned in Hawaii. It is known for fast, flowing combinations of hand strikes, and for teaching self-defence through named techniques, sets and forms.
Students learn to see the angles of an attack and respond with economy of motion. Schools grade through a belt order from white to black, with forms and sets such as Short Form 1 and Long Form 1 tested along the way.

American Kenpo schools often ask
Can we add our named techniques?
Yes. Add each named technique as a club technique, then use it in lesson plans, assessments and grading requirements.
Can students see what they need for their next belt?
Yes. The student and parent portal shows the next grade's requirements, as far as the school chooses to share them.
Can we use our own syllabus and grades?
Yes. The starter ladder is only a starting point. Rename grades, change colours, add your own requirements and set the lessons and time each grade needs.
Can one club teach more than one martial art?
Yes. Choose a main martial art when you create your club and add others in the club settings. Each keeps its own technique library.
Can you move our students across from our current system?
Yes. Import students from a spreadsheet and check every row before it is saved, or send us your records and we will move them across for you free of charge.
How much does it cost?
Small clubs can use the Free plan with no card required. Paid plans add capacity and features as your club grows.
