Attention Stance

Musubi Dachi

Closed stance used for attention, respect, and formal openings

StanceMovementsBeginnerKarate

Key steps

  1. Bring the heels together and let the toes turn outward naturally to create the closed attention stance shape.
  2. Stand tall with the knees soft and the weight shared evenly through both feet rather than collapsing inward.
  3. Keep the chest lifted, the chin level, and the hands neat by the sides in a respectful formal posture.
  4. Remain still and balanced so the stance looks composed and ready for bowing, commands, or the next movement.

Coaching points

  • Keep the posture calm, balanced, and alert.
  • Stay light enough to move without needing a reset.
  • Use the stance as a prepared starting base, not a dead pause.
