Reinforced Block
Morote Uke
Support-hand block adding structure and pressure
Key steps
- Chamber the primary blocking arm and place the support hand so it can reinforce the forearm near the wrist or elbow line.
- Form the main block first, then connect the supporting hand so both arms work together without crowding the shoulders.
- Drive the shape from the stance and hips so the reinforced block feels rooted rather than stiff.
- End with both arms structurally connected and the torso upright so you can immediately transition into a counter.
Coaching points
- Use the whole body to support the block, not just the arm.
- Keep the blocking shape compact and efficient.
- Finish balanced and ready to counter.
