Lead-hand straight punch directed toward the midsection
Key steps
- Start in a fighting stance with the front hand already closest to the target and the rear hand guarding the chin.
- Snap the front hand straight out toward stomach height without overcommitting the shoulder.
- Keep the movement fast and economical so the lead hand strikes and returns quickly.
- Recover the lead hand to guard immediately and stay ready to follow with the rear hand.
Coaching points
- Fire fast without letting the front shoulder roll forward.
- Keep the strike compact and straight.
- Bring the lead hand straight back to guard.
