Cross Stance
Kosa Dachi
Crossed-leg stance used for turning and coiling the body
Key steps
- Cross one foot past the other so the legs weave together while the knees stay bent for balance.
- Keep the weight centered between the feet and avoid letting the stance tip or collapse inward.
- Stay tall through the spine, keep the hips under you, and use the arms to balance rather than waving them out.
- Hold the crossed position only as long as needed for the turn, coil, or transition, then move out cleanly.
