Flat Knuckle Punch
Hiraken Tsuki
Punch using the flattened front knuckles
Key steps
- Form the fist so the front knuckles flatten into the correct striking surface while the wrist stays straight.
- Punch directly along the center line with the elbow close and the hips driving behind the technique.
- Keep the fist shape disciplined and do not overextend, because the strike relies on accurate knuckle alignment.
- Withdraw the fist smoothly and reform a standard guard or chamber after the punch lands.
Coaching points
- Let the hips and stance drive the punch rather than the shoulder alone.
- Keep the elbow line tight so the strike travels straight.
- Return the opposite hand with intent to finish the technique cleanly.
