Low Round Kick
Gedan Mawashi Geri
Low round kick aimed below the waist and usually introduced after core linear kicks
Key steps
- Chamber the leg like a round kick but keep the line lower toward the thigh or lower body target.
- Turn the supporting foot and snap the kick around with the shin or instep travelling on the low arc.
- Keep the hands active and the torso organized so dropping to the low line does not expose your head.
- Recoil the kick quickly and recover to stance before the opponent can counter.
Coaching points
- Keep the supporting leg strong and stable.
- Chamber and re-chamber the kicking leg cleanly.
- Do not sacrifice posture just to reach higher.
