Elbow Strike

Short-range elbow strike using the point of the elbow
Key steps
- Move into close range and keep the elbow bent so the strike starts tight to the body.
- Drive the elbow through the target using the legs, hips, and torso rather than swinging only from the shoulder.
- Keep the point of the elbow leading and the non-striking hand active so the body remains protected.
- Recover quickly to guard or clinch-ready posture and stay balanced after the elbow lands.
Coaching points
- Keep the strike tight so the elbow stays the main contact point.
- Use hip rotation instead of a loose arm swing.
- Recover straight back into guard after impact.
