Key steps
- Watch the opponent's lead foot carefully and catch it during the moment it is stepping or becoming unweighted.
- Sweep low and sharply across the moving foot with precise timing rather than using brute force.
- Keep your own base stable and coordinate the sweep with hand pressure or angle so the timing is more reliable.
- Recover your foot quickly and keep moving so you remain ready if the sweep only partly succeeds.
Coaching points
- Keep the supporting leg strong and stable.
- Chamber and re-chamber the kicking leg cleanly.
- Do not sacrifice posture just to reach higher.
