Straight Punch

Direct straight punch thrown on a short efficient line
Key steps
- Start from a stable stance with the fist chambered and the wrist lined up straight behind the front knuckles.
- Drive the punch directly forward without letting it arc outward or rise up off the intended line.
- Rotate the forearm only as needed for the final fist position and keep the shoulders level while the opposite hand retracts.
- Finish by extending through the target, then recover cleanly to chamber or guard without overreaching.
Coaching points
- Let the hips and stance drive the punch rather than the shoulder alone.
- Keep the elbow line tight so the strike travels straight.
- Return the opposite hand with intent to finish the technique cleanly.
